Joint installation dinner for Toastmasters officers held
KUCHING: A joint installation dinner was held for Hornbill City Toastmasters Club, Sains Toastmasters Club and Sarawak Women Toastmasters Club at the Sarawak Club here recently.
Division D director Stanley Gona Chee Khiong conducted the ceremony to install the incoming club officers for the 2018-2019 term.
Prior to the installation, the discharge of outgoing club officers (2017-2018 term) was carried out by Nicholas Bong (Area D1 director, for Hornbill City Toastmasters Club and Sains Toastmasters Club) and Joycelyn Foo (Area D3 director, for Sarawak Women Toastmasters Club).
During the event, Stanley highlighted the importance of teamwork among club officers and members in line with the club’s mission.
He added that this would go a long way for Toastmasters clubs to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members would be empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self- confidence and personal growth.
The newly installed club officers for Hornbill City Toastmasters Club are Shirley Wong (president), John Ting (vice president Education — VPE), Awang Saifeluddin (vice president membership — VPM), Anna Bong (vice president public relations — VPPR), Jasmine Chiew (secretary), Lee Tze Yang (treasurer) and Vincent Chuah (sergeant at arms — SAA).
For Sains Toastmasters Club, the newly installed club officers are Jessica Chai ( president), Deric Tang ( VPE), Gloria Kelbin (VPM), Nazri Kawi (VPPR), Hong Sing Min (secretary), Andygie Gines (treasurer) and Louis Kueh (SAA).
The newly installed club officers for Sarawak Women Toastmasters Club are Herlina Ajaib Jamahari (president), Kuspa Arina Mohammad Bohari (VPE), Jarina Mohammed Zakir ( VPM), Julie Hussain ( VPPR), Yong Li Na ( secretary), Joycelyn Foo (treasurer) and Gralice Marsha (SAA).
Toastmasters International has more than 352,000 members where they improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,400 clubs in 141 countries.
