Mitsubishi tourney attracts over 100 golfers

BINTULU: The 25th Mitsubishi Corporat ion- DGH Bintulu Golf Tournament ended with Augustine Jawai from SMDS receving a 49- inch HDR LED Panasonic TV as the nett winner last Sunday.

He finished ahead of Avit Ngau from ABF and MLNG’s Kuswadi Abdullah.

The gross winner was Aman Julaihi from BPSB who will enjoy a one- night stay at Mandarin Oriental. Second and third were Nazri Amri from MLNG and Sufri Bohari from BPSB.

Prize recipients for novelty events included Capt Jai Konek ( MLNG) for nearest the line, Daiken’s Takahisa Honda for nearest the pin and Peter Lamat ( Biport Bulkers) for the longest drive.

Prizes were given out by Genichi Ichikawa, General Manager of Kua la Lumpur Branch Chief in Malaysia, Mitsubishi Corporatio­n.

Also present at the closing ceremony were Bintulu Port Holdings group CEO who is also the new Bintulu Golf Club captain Dato’ Mohammad Medan Abdullah, head of MLNG Pau Kiew Huai and Asean Bintulu Fertilizer CEO Lucas Takip.

“This is my first time joining this golf event as I was just assigned to KL in April this year, but I am happily surprised to have more than one hundred players and I am overwhelme­d by the support given by our Bintulu friends to the event,” said Ichikawa.

He a lso highlighte­d that Mitsubishi Corporatio­n had started a forest re- generation project in Sarawak in 1990 and so far nearly half a million trees have been planted in the state.

“It is clear that Sarawak is the focal point of our corporate social responsibi­lity activities in Malaysia,” he added.
