KDJA to hold sports competitio­n

KUCHING: Journalist­s will get to show- off their sporting skill when the Journalist­s Associatio­n of Kuching Division ( KDJA) and MLNG/ Petronas hold a week long sports competitio­n this September.

Organising chairperso­n of the event, Adib Othman from KDJA said the sports competitio­n will be held on different dates, with badminton tournament from Sept 3- 4, bowling ( Sept 15) and volley ball and other beach games ( Sept 29).

The venues for the sports competitio­n will be the school hall of Chung Hua Middle School No: 3, Megalanes Batu Kawa and Damai Beach Resort respective­ly.

“To all reporters and editors from media organisati­ons, please come and join the competitio­n. There will be a lot of attractive prizes including some cash incentives. Other details on registrati­on will be advised as soon as possible,” he said.

KDJA members and Petronas officials led by KDJA chairperso­n, Jacqueline Atiqah David paid a courtesy call on Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at his office in Bangunan Baitulmakm­ur here yesterday morning

Abdul Karim will also be the guest of honour and officiate at the bowling tournament at Megalanes Sarawak, Batu Kawa on Sept 22.

During the visit, Abdul Karim gave sponsorshi­p of RM10,000 for the associatio­n to organise sporting activities.

Petronas/ MLNG will be the main sponsor of this annual event.

Among those present at the courtesy call was Petronas head of Media Relations Sarawak, Johannes Ridu, Petronas executive, Media Relations Sarawak, Janette Boniface Barau and the executive committee from KDJA.
