Application letter to seek funds for school submitted on Aug 2
MIRI: The application letter to seek funds to improve and repair SJK ( C) North building blocks has been submitted to Minister of Education Dr Maszlee Malik on Aug 2, says Miri MP Dr Teo Yu Keng’s assistant Wong Yie Sing.
Wong through a press statement on Thursday clarified that the application letter was submitted after Dr Teo was approached by SJK (C) North on the aid appeal, thus the application letter was swiftly prepared and delivered by hand to the minister to ensure that it was delivered as early as possible.
Several days ago, DAP Sarawak secretary Alan Ling announced that he had delivered a similar application letter to Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching.

fully aware that the statement made by Ling could be misleading, therefore this statement is necessary to clear the air,” said Wong.
On efforts to improve and repair the building blocks at SJK ( C) North, Wong said the 60-year- old school is in dire need of overall repair so that it could be safely used by the students and teachers.
“The school that began operation in 1958 is said to be the oldest in Miri. The structures of the 15 classrooms have begun to deteriorate and may pose danger to students.
“In 2014, the Ministry of Education implemented the 21 Century Learning ( PAK21) concept, a centralised learning process to create a more conducive and effective learning environment for the students. Despite this, the physical aspect and size of the classrooms at the school are unable to utilise this concept.
“Thus, Dr Teo has made it a priority to deliver the application letter by hand to the minister with the hope that the minister would take note of this case,” said Wong.
