PAMSC to hold one-day fire safety seminar

KUCHING: Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia Sarawak Chapter ( PAMSC) will hold a one- day fi re safety seminar entitled ‘Cladding Fire Incidents – What went wrong?’ on Aug 28 at Pullman Hotel here.

This seminar is fully supported by Ministry of Local Government and Housing, Fire and Rescue Dept ( Sarawak) and The Institutio­n of Fire Engineers ( Malaysia Branch). Profession­als attending this seminar will be entitled to CPD points.

As one of PAMSC’s Profession­al Practice events, it aims to give awareness on fire safety to fellow profession­als and relevant stakeholde­rs such as developers, building owners, project managers, building maintenanc­e and operation officers for commercial and residentia­l buildings.

Three speakers have been invited to present their papers on various topics related to current design issues and material selection for modern buildings.

Rockwool Asia ( India) representa­tive Debapratim Dinda will share his experience on why insulation of buildings is crucial for fi re prevention and protection. Bomba Putrajaya representa­tive Wan Mohammad Zaidi Wan Isa will explain issues and problems in building design related to external fi re spread.

The Institutio­n of Fire Engineers Malaysia branch vice-president Tay Hao- giang will present two papers; about the lessons learnt from the Grenfell Tower Fire in London, and his fi ndings on fi re resistant doors as critical element in life safety.
