Baru lauds teachers for developing capable, excellent human capital

-

MIRI: Works Minister Baru Bian says he is ready to support activities by teachers in developing capable and excellent human capital.

Speaking at the Baram District Teachers’ Day celebration here yesterday, Baru commended teachers, especially those in rural schools, for their commitment and zeal in providing the younger generation with the platform to becoming future leaders and useful citizens.

He noted that in Baram District alone there was a huge student population of over 9,600 which is posing a big challenge to the teachers.

“Looking at Sarawak, I always hear the achievement of Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Lubai in Limbang, which is a low student enrollment school, but has succeeded in putting Sarawak on the education map.

“For Baram, SK Long Sepliling has also excelled in co-curriculum and competed at national and international-level competitions over the years,” he said.

Baru said such achievements were the result of synergies between the teachers and the local communities which had brought pride to not only the schools but the state and country.

He noted that success cannot be achieved overnight but through meticulous planning and execution as well as the commitment and zeal of all parties.

Among those present were Miri MP Dr Michael Teo and Baram District education officer Seripah Azizah Wan Hussain.
