Kah Tung successfully defends Bintulu golf title
BINTULU: Defending champion Lee Ka Tung f r om S ibu Gol f Club retained the BDA Challenge Trophy at the 25th Bintulu Amateur Open Gol f Championship at Bintulu Golf Club yesterday.
The chal lenge trophy was presented by Bintulu Development Authority ( BDA) deputy general manager Abdul l ah Mohd Sheriff.
Second and third placing in the Open Section 54 holes were Aw Yong Jhie Juin and Hassan Rahmat respectively.
The winner in the Open Section 36 holes gross was Andy Musa who beat Lau Ching Leong in second place.
Erwin Syarmizie won in the Open Section 36 holes nett while second to fifth places went to James Wong, Lee Ka Sing, Nila Ibrahim and Sarbini Mahdi respectively.
John Ling and Azahari Halim emerged winners in the Open Section Day 1 gross and nett categories respectively.
In Day 2, the gross winner was Nigel Racha while the nett winner was Tang Tong Seng.
Benjamin Ethan and Raden Khairulzaman were the gross and nett winners in Day 3.
Top three in the Ladies Section 54 holes gross were Alice Repet, Adeline Litu and Michelle Cottle respectively while Agnes Dela won the nett category.
Meanwhile, in the VIP nett category, Dato Chai Shong Phian was first followed by Lai Chee Hua, Datuk Pau Chiong Ung, Sylvester Ajah, Datu Dr Hatta Solih, Sokiman Aini and Prie Nyangan.
Omar Salleh was the gross winner while second and third places went to Pau Kiew Huai and Dato Mohammad Medan Abdullah respectively.
A total of 120 golfers including four ladies took part in the championship which offered RM50,000 in cash prizes.
Bintulu Golf Club captain Dato Mohammad Medan Abdullah and organising chairman Abdul Rahim Abdullah were also present at the prize giving ceremony.
