E-hailing, taxi operators asked to unite
KUALA LUMPUR: E-hailing service operators should encourage more taxi drivers to register with their e-hailing platforms, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
He said the migration to ehailing service was in line with global trends and hoped the move would also put an end to the taxi- drivers’ disagreement with the e-hailing services and improve the transportation industry.
“I appeal to e-hailing providers, please do your best to encourage taxi drivers to come on board. We do not want e-hailing service providers and taxi drivers to continue with the kind of environment where they treat each other as enemies and competitors. It is time for all operators to work together,” he said in his speech at the launch of a new e-hailing service ‘Diffride’ here yesterday.
A homegrown Malaysian brand, Diffride aims to provide service to those needing transport in the Klang Valley,

while not forgetting the needs of their drivers.
Under this new application, driving partners will only need to pay a flat rate of RM5 daily to the service provider.
Meanwhile, Loke said ehailing service operators should also take the initiative to approach taxi associations and groups to work together in introducing the new technology to them. He said these associations understand the industry well and in return, could help e-hailing providers to improve their services.
“Approach them (taxi associations) to introduce the technology and I’m sure with the attractive packages that you ( providers) have, they will register,” he said. — Bernama
