Pink Ribbon Support Group to finally have a home in October
KUCHING: After struggling for six years, Pink Ribbon Support Group ( PRSG) will finally in October has a place to call home as an avenue of hope for breast cancer patients and survivors.
Assistant Minister of Law, State and Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, their patron, said the centre would play a very important role in the road to recovery for cancer patients and survivors.
“This include giving moral and psychological support as well as sharing experiences to newlydiagnosed patients, pre- operative patients and patients undergoing treatments.”
Sharifah Hasidah said this after receiving a courtesy call from the support group at her office at the State Legislative Assembly in Petra Jaya yesterday
The centre, she added, would also give out wigs on loan to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment, produce beast

“The centre will also help them to reduce and prevent lymphedema through exercises and physiotherapy, provide holistic healing through dancing and exercise session as well as providing occupational therapeutic sessions such as cooking, sewing and handiwork,” Sharifah Hasidah said, adding the group had been doing many outreach programmes in the rural area.
Meanwhile, PRSG president Suriani Rapaiee said the courtesy call was made to seek the assistant minister’s advice on two important matters.
“We are finalising the purchase of a house to be made as our centre, and to organise a Charity High Tea in conjunction with the launching of breast cancer awareness campaign. The High Tea will also be used as the date for official handing-over of the key to the support group centre (house).
Suriani said the group has 230 members comprising cancer survivors and medical personnel.
“The group was founded on Oct 17, 2012, and registered with the Registrar of Societies shortly after that. The group aims to give cancer survivors hope, to cope with life, to get the much needed support and strength to survive cancer, and give them companionship so that they will not feel isolated and alone in the battle against cancer,” she said.
The group executive committee members Hamisah Sahok and Rosmina Ahmad were among those who came for the courtesy call.
