49 RTP projects planned in Tamin this year – Rep

SIBU: A total of 49 rural transforma­tion programme ( RTP) projects costing RM5 million will be implemente­d in Tamin constituen­cy this year, Tamin assemblyma­n Christophe­r Gira disclosed yesterday.

He said 50 per cent of these projects had been tendered out and successful bidders had started to do the work.

“The remaining (are) in the process of preparing drawing and bill of quantity…will call for tender soon.”

He said these RTP projects included access roads to longhouses, jetties and wharfs, farm roads, public multipurpo­se halls as well as school multipurpo­se halls, parking lots, constructi­on of new kindergart­en building, levelling works for new sites of longhouses and constructi­on of houses of worship.

On a related subject, he said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had announced several projects during a walkabout in Selangau on May 5 this year.

“Among them is the upgrading of Pasai Siong Hilir Road spanning 16km with total cost of RM17 million - expected to call for tender by year end,” Gira said.

He added: “The mini sport complex for Selangau costing RM8 million is now in design stage and the new Selangau district office costing RM5 million is also in design stage.

“Other projects in design stage are Selangau waterfront costing RM5 million and new multipurpo­se hall for SJK( C) Tong Ah (RM500,000).

“All these projects (announced by CM) are expected to kick off for constructi­on early next year.”
