KUCHING: Connections Toastmasters Club ( CTMC) will be holding its educational meeting with the theme ‘Sayangi Malaysiaku’ on Aug 23 at Homestay Hotel in Jalan Ellis here at 7.30pm.

“The theme conveys the meaning of Malaysians of various races living in diversity, harmony, unity and with a strong affection for Malaysia,” club president Nicholas Bong said in a press release yesterday.

“In Toastmasters club, members can learn and progress in a supportive learn- by- doing environment that allows them to achieve their goals at their own pace,” he added.

A typical Toastmasters meeting will have members giving prepared speeches. Evaluation and feedback will be provided to encourage speakers to improve further.

There will also be an impromptu speaking session known as Table Topics which allows participants to speak for one to two minutes based on the topics given.

For those interested, the meeting will be hosted every second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 7.30pm at the hotel.

The meeting is open to the public and entrance fee is fixed at RM10 per person inclusive of light refreshment.

Toastmasters International is a non- profit educational organisation which provides a platform for members to train on public speaking, effective communication and leadership skills.

For more enquiries, the public can contact Nicholas at 016-8162962 or Jessie Chin (vice president education) at 014- 9921738.
