Serian plays host to MRC Sarawak Convention and Volunteers Recognition Night

SERIAN: The Malaysian Red Crescent ( MRC) Serian District hosted the 17th Malaysian Red Crescent ( MRC) Sarawak State Convention 2018 themed ‘Looking into the Future’ and Volunteers’ Recognition Night at Balu Tayung Langui, Kampung Pichin here last weekend.

Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong, MRC Sarawak chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan and MRC Serian chairman Dr Kiu Chiong Chin were in attendance.

The ‘ Volunteers’ Recognition Night’ featured a series of cultural dance performances, apart from presentation of various awards.

Fifty- six MRC National Recognition Awards were presented – among them, two ‘ Distinguished Service Medals (from Sibu), five ‘Excellent Service Medals’ ( Sibu– two, Serian– two, Miri– one), four ‘ Meritorious Service Medals ( Serian– four), six ‘ Meritorious Service Youth medals’ ( Serian– three, Sibu– two, Miri– one), and 39 Long Service Medals ( Miri– 24, Sibu– eight, Serian– four, Lundu– two, Stampin– one).

Thirteen MRC Serian recipients of the various national awards were Joseph Then Ah Nyuk, Patrick Mawong, Leong Pit Wee, Lai Chau Liong (two awards), Ahmad Mudzaffar Yusuf, Titus James, Levachrista Jimmy, Scholastica Ignatius, Marione Jona Bujang, Joseph Payun, Cherilyn Vong Chiew Lin and Damien Mpulop.

Among the 39 MRC State Recognition Awards presented during the night were three Platinum Awards ( Miri– two, Serian– one), five Gold Awards (Serian–two, Miri– one, Sibu– one, Kuching– one), six Silver Awards ( Serian– three, Stampin– two, Miri– one), 15 Bronze Awards for Officers ( Miri– six, Serian– five, Sibu– one, Stampin– one, Sarikei– one, Kuching– one) and 23 Bronze Awards for Youths (Stampin– five, Sibu– five, Sarikei– four, Serian– four, Kuching– four, Miri– one).

Fifteen MRC Serian recipients of the various state awards were Phang Nyuk Lan, Simon Mpulop, Ahmad Mudzaffar Yusuf, Leong Pit Wee, Lai Chau Liong, Sylvester Chabok, Julian Lejau Kebing, Patricia Albert, Rojim Wilson Banyui, Zainal Limbi, Titus James, Aron Arthur Stanley John, Jimmy Phang Chien Chan, Elton Iling and Marian Marcella Garlin.

MRC Sibu will host the series of events next year.
