BHMS admissions manager to meet with prospective students

-

KUCHING: The Business and Hotel Management School ( BHMS) admissions manager will meet with prospective hospitality and tourism industry students at Market Management Services Sdn Bhd ( MMS) tomorrow (Aug 25) from 3pm to 5pm.

The free consultation will cover bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, diploma, and postgraduate diploma programmes at the school in Luzern, Switzerland.

Paid internships in Switzerland will also be discussed.

A press release yesterday said Switzerland is known as a study destination for students wishing to pursue careers in the hotel and tourism industry, global business, or culinary arts.

BHMS and The Robert Gordon University have designed one of the fastest track Bachelor of Arts (BA) programmes in Switzerland without compromising on educational quality.

At BHMS, students can achieve a BA in Hotel and Hospitality Management following 18 months of study plus an 18- month paid internship period.

A similar course in another Swiss hotel management school would require 24 months of study plus a 12-month internship period.

This gives BHMS graduates an advantage of studying six months less while gaining six additional months of paid work experience in Switzerland, where students will get a gross income of CHF2,190 (RM9,132).

BHMS has implemented a unique system of education by dividing a 20-week semester into four mini- terms of five weeks each.

This system enables students to focus on three to four academic subjects at a time instead of the usual eight to 10 subjects as in other Swiss hotel schools.

As a result, BHMS students are able to complete 12 to 14 academic subjects within a six- month period without overloading them.

Industry training is an integral part of the study programme at BHMS.

During every academic year, students are required to carry out a four to six months of industry training in a hotel or a restaurant approved by BHMS.

In addition, BHMS works with numerous international placement agencies that specialise in placing graduate students in Europe, Asia and North America.

A career and placement counsellor also assists students with placements in hotels and restaurants in Switzerland and abroad.

BHMS offers bachelor’s degrees in Hotel Management, Global Business Management, and Culinary Arts; Master of Science in International Hospitality, Business Management, and Global Business Management; Master of Business Administration with three specialisations; and a twoweek Summer Course in Hotel Management.

The BHMS campus buildings and student residences are located in the heart of Luzern, within walking-distance from each other and from the city centre.

Living and studying in the heart of this unique city enables students to enjoy urban qualities as well as the charm and exclusivity of Luzern.
