Three Thai monks to give dharma talks

KUCHING: Three monks from Bangkok, Thailand will give dharma talks at the Kuching Buddhist Society from Tuesday to Thursday (Aug 28- 30) at 7.30pm.

They will conduct the sessions on the second floor of the society building at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho here.

The dharma talk on Tuesday will explore the topic ‘Change your mind to change the world: Simple steps to reveal the truth of life and unleash the happiness within’.

The two meditation sessions on Wednesday and Thursday will focus on ‘ Building solid inner peace foundation’ and ‘ The art and science of meditation practice’ respective­ly.

Phra Sakchai Henkwamdee, 56, who holds a Bachelor of Business Administra­tion, entered monkhood and began practising Buddhism 23 years ago.

Venerable Suchin Suchino, 45, who holds a Master of Fine Arts from Wimbledon School of Art, London and a Master of Liberal Arts from Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts, Taiwan, was ordained in Wat Phra Dhammakaya in 2001.

Venerable John Paramai Dhanissaro ( Supadulcha­i), normally referred to as Luang Phi John, received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineerin­g from Chulalongk­orn University and the Asian Institute of Technology respective­ly.

In 2003, he furthered his studies and completed his doctorate in Telematics from Norway.

Since his first meeting with the Most Venerable Luang Por Dhammajayo Bhikkhu, the abbot of the Dhammakaya Temple, in 2005, he became greatly inspired and much interested in meditation, and has been involved in projects that teach meditation to internatio­nal participan­ts, encouragin­g them to discover the inner peace within themselves.

He supported these projects by designing, developing, and coding a unique self- developmen­t programme, and created an online platform that incorporat­ed new technology to help people balance their busy lifestyle and digital behaviour.

This online meditation service platform has served over 120,000 people from 235 territorie­s worldwide.

After completing his PhD in January 2008, and while still supporting in creating the online self- developmen­t programme, Luang Phi John decided to be ordained as a Theravada Buddhist monk at the Dhammakaya temple, Thailand, and was subsequent­ly invited to join Peace Revolution as a meditation instructor.

He has been teaching an online meditation programme that includes Moonfest (free online meditation held twice a month) and on- demand meditation sessions to over 10,000 people from 123 countries.

He has taught 20 fellowship programmes, as well as many meditation workshops and retreats in 52 countries in Africa, America, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and the Caribbean.
