KUALA LUMPUR: Online florist service, Flower Chimp, has secured an investment of RM6 million from investors, with the main contributor being Asia Venture Group (AVG).

The German founders of the Malaysia-based Flower Chimp, Maximilian Lotz and Niklas Frassa, say that despite being in the business just two years, they have become the no. 1 choice for flower delivery service in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, recording fivefold growth from May 2017 to May 2018.

“We aim to expand our reach to a new market in Singapore by the second half of August and other countries including Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong by 2019,” said Lotz, the chief executive officer (CEO).

Meanwhile, Flower Chimp chief operating officer (COO), Frassa said they are confident that from 4Q2018 to 4Q2019, Flower Chimp will grow three times over with contributions from all four major markets, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.

“With the power of online marketing and social media, we aim to enhance our branding and be top-of-mind for customers,” said Frassa.

He said the company plans to use the injection of funds to strengthen their footprint in Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as improve their IT infrastructure including live order tracking. At the same time, the company continuously conducts market research to come up with new products and promotions to keep enticing clients. As the brand grows, a press release stated, the team will strive to improve its services and offer more flower variants.

Flower Chimp’s network covers more than 80 districts in Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak. With no minimum spend or delivery charge, clients can send flowers from as low as RM89 and arrange for same-day delivery if the order is made before 1pm. — Bernama
