Two head of buffaloes were slaughtered for the ‘ korban’ ( ritual sacrifice) and the meat was prepared for distribution to needy families here.

“We are thankful that the response from our members have been very encouraging.

“In Islam, performing a ‘korban’ is an obligation but at the same time, it also serves to strengthen the solidarity among ‘ ummah’ ( Muslims in general).

“Even when they are in different countries, the Muslims are united through ‘korban’,” he said, adding that this was the key objective of the ‘gotong-royong’ at the surau.

“We hold the work party at the surau, where our members work together to process the carcass and then cut the meat into packable portions before the distribution.

“It’s an activity that strengthens the bond between our brothers and sisters in Islam,” he said.

Mohamad a l so took the opportunity to thank Limbang MP Hasbi Habibollah and Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, who is also Bukit Kota assemblyman, who are advisors to the organisation.

“They both have been very supportive to us, assisting us in all our activities,” he added.
