Over 200 students receive uniform vouchers from Yayasan S’wak

BINTULU: A total of 227 primary and secondary school students under the Tanjung Batu and Samalaju constituen­cies here received school uniform vouchers from Yayasan Sarawak yesterday.

The handing- over ceremony was held at SMK Assyakirin and officiated at by Samalaju assemblyma­n Majang Renggi, who extended his appreciati­on to Yayasan Sarawak for providing educationa­l assistance to needy students for the past 18 years.

“It is hoped that from this assistance, it could at least ease the burden of needy families in their preparatio­n to send their children to school.

“This kind of assistance shows that the government is concerned over the wellbeing of the people, especially those from low income families in facing the high cost of living these days,” he said.

Majang added he hoped such assistance will motivate students to strive for greater success in their studies as well as future undertakin­gs.

He also urged schools to keep updating their students’ personal informatio­n to avoid eligible students from missing out on such assistance.

Also present at the event were Yayasan Sarawak scholarshi­p division principal assistant director Zamahari Saidi, Bintulu Education assistant officer Yusuf Harbi, headmaster­s, principals, teachers and parents.
