Wishesland to hold fundraising charity sales on November 20

-

KUCHING: Wishesland will be holding its first charity sales on Nov 20 this year from 7am to 12pm at the MBKS Community Hall in Jalan Padungan here.

Its president, Chi Poh Yung in a press release yesterday said the main objective of the event was to raise funds to help cover its daily operation and development expenses.

He added as at July this year, total bank balance of the centre is approximately RM50,000 which will only last for the next five months if no donations are received.

“We have 41 children now and the average monthly expenses of the centre is estimated at RM10,000, which comprised salary for three full time staff, allowance for one part-time staff, electricity and water bills and other costs related to general maintenance of the centre.

“The beautification work of Wishes Magick Garden is being carried out now. Members of the public who past by the traffic light at Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui towards Jalan Crookshank would be able to see a huge sculpture of a human head with brains located in front of the centre.

Wishesland’s mascot has been completed and placed at its Wishes Welcoming Zone,” Chi said.

“Currently, we are working on four cat sculptures to be placed in front of the staircase leading towards our centre.”

He added that JCI Kuching and Noble Pledge Foundation have agreed to be the co- organisers of this year’s charity sales.

He believed with the vast networks of both bodies, the event would be able to achieve its target of raising at least RM200,000.

Meanwhile, Chi said that although the sales is on a Tuesday, it being a public holiday (Prophet Muhammad’s birthday), everyone can come and support the event.

The public can purchase the coupons for the charity sales at its centre or five branches namely Tom Digital at Kota Samarahan, King’s Centre, MJC Batu Kawa, E-Mart Batu Kawa and Satok.

On top of that, for those working at Wisma Saberkas, they can purchase the coupons at Empire Hair Salon, Level 2 of the building.

“We welcome members of the public to set up stalls during the event as well.

“To- date, 60 stall operators have confirmed their participation. We are targeting to have 200 stalls so that there are enough food and items available on sale.

“In support for the call to protect our environment, we encourage everyone to bring their own containers when purchasing food at the event,” Chi added.

For further information on the coupons and stalls, call the centre at 082-252210 ( Ms. Agnes) or 019-2288419 ( Mr. Chi).
