DAP Sg Kapit passes 6 resolutions
KAPIT: Democratic Action Party ( DAP) Sungai Kapit branch adopted six resolutions for the attention of the government during its annual general meeting at its service centre here yesterday.
The resolutions were submitted by branch chairman Teng Mee Hing to the Sibu Member of Parliament and chairman of DAP State Political Education Bureau, Oscar Ling Chai Yew, who officiated at the meeting. The resolutions were: To appeal to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government to fulfil all the promises it pledged in its manifesto during the May 9 14th general election.
Appealing to the government to speed up the construction of Jalan Kapit- Song- Kanowit to connect Kapit to other parts of Sarawak.
Calling on the government through the Ministry of Health to upgrade the Kapit District Hospital and to upgrade and enhance the physical facilities/ equipment and also manpower at the hospital which serves as a referral and only hospital in Kapit Division for Song, Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Belaga districts. It does not even have a general surgeon.
To construct more communication towers in order to improve telecommunication services in Kapit.
Appealing to the government to address the woes on treated water supply to the town and also residential areas which often faced water shortages. Also calling on the relevant authorities especially the Health Department to conduct frequent testing on the quality of the water supplied from the water treatment plant to ensure it is safe for human consumption.
To build another petrol station in or outside Kapit Town to meet the increasing demand for fuel. Currently there are only two petrol stations, both at Kapit Town.
Meanwhile, Teng Mee Hing, a housing developer, was unanimously elected as the chairman of DAP Sungai Kapit branch for the 2018-2019 term.
Others in the line- up are Epit Lanyau (assistant chairman), Ling Fang Sheu (secretary), Len Banyan (assistant secretary), Wong Kiiun Chin (treasurer), Soh Wun Chung (publicity officer) and Agnes Baramas ( women chief).
The committee members are Wong Lik Seng, Soh Hung Chung, Yii Jee Min and Jimmy Chia King Huat.
