KUALA LUMPUR: The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 (LIMA’19) will become a reference point for the government to develop and modernise the military, civil aerospace and maritime requirement.

Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said the latest assets and technology would be displayed at LIMA’19 and it will contribute towards enhancing the cooperation between local and international defence.

“LIMA’19 will undoubtedly be an exciting affair, I urge all industry players to come on board and be part of the team,” he said at the launch of LIMA’19 here yesterday.

Present were Deputy Defence Minister Senator Liew Chin Tong and Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) chief Gen Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin.

Mohamad said LIMA’19, themed ‘Defence and Commercial Connecting Intelligence’ and to be held from March 26 to 30 next year at Langkawi, is aiming a 60 per cent of content from the defence sector and 40 per cent commercial sector.

Meanwhile EN Project Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Lt Gen ( Retired) Datuk Seri Sabri Adam said about 600 companies from 14 pavilions nationwide and 350 foreign delegations were expected to participate in the exhibition.

“More than 100 planes and 30 Maritimes assets (will be on display during the exhibition) and a total of 60 per cent of the floor space has already been booked by local and international companies and the space is selling fast,” he said.

The five- day aerospace exhibition will be held at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, while Resort World Langkawi would host the maritime exhibition.

LIMA, which has been held biennially since 1991, provides the maritime and aerospace industry with a unique platform for networking and business opportunities and functions as a gateway to Asia Pacific’s dynamic markets.
