PKR Sarawak winning 18 seats a possibility, says political analyst

-

KUCHING: Dr Saudi Narani a political analyst, who is also a senior lecturer of Policy Research and Science Administration at UiTM Sarawak, says winning 18 of 81 seats in the coming state election is not a difficult task for Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR).

He said this was due to the fact that PKR was now more established, and its presence felt by the people of all races in both the urban and rural areas.

“For PKR to win 18 seats in the next state election is not something unexpected, and with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim set to become the next prime minister and with it a new administration will increase the people’s confidence,” he said yesterday when asked to comment on PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli’s prediction that the party would win at least 18 seats in the election.

Saudi added that PKR has also brought great changes in the nation’s political scenario, which resulted in many Malaysians to be attracted to the party.

“The issue of PKR being a Peninsular- based political party is not that important. Seeing to the people’s welfare, serving them with sincerity, and sensitive to their needs are more important.”

Having said that, Saudi was confident that Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) would not give PKR an easy ride during the election.

“I believe that GPS will go all out to win the hearts of the people and win as many seats as possible. We must not forget that the former Barisan Nasional ( BN) government has the legacy of bringing development and infrastructure projects, and improving the livelihood of the people in the rural areas,” he added.

With that, he said GPS would have a fair chance to be re- elected the government of the day in Sarawak.
