Kpg Selampit bridge project needs RM20 mln more for completion
LUNDU: The Kampung Selampit bridge project here which was approved by the previous federal government with an allocation of RM10 million needs an additional RM20 million to be completed.
According to Opar assemblyman Dato Ranum Mina, based on field studies by the relevant agencies, the RM10 million allocation was not sufficient to complete the bridge.
“I have informed Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri ( Datuk Amar Dr) James Masing who is also the Minister of Infrastructure and Development about this. He ( Masing) advised to apply for additional provision for the project and if the state finances permit it, then the project could be implemented,” he added when attending the 53rd anniversary event of the St. Gregory’s Church of Kampung Selampit here last week.
On road issues in his area, especially those connecting the villages such as Kampung Pasir Hilir and Kampung Kendaie from the main road (Jalan Biawak), Ranum said this had been submitted to the Sarawak government as well as the federal government.
He said that if the Sarawak government could finance the paving works of the road, it would probably be possible it could be done immediately.
The 10-kilometre Kendaie Road is the only road in the area that has yet to be paved.
This road is used for the residents of Kampung Kendaie, Kampung Pasir Hilir, Kampung Bukit Batu as well as acts as the main route for residents from Kampung Selampit to bring oil palm friuts to the processing plant.
On the church’s request to raise funds for the upgrading of its hall, Ranum said he is committed to provide an RM80,000 allocation next year for the church.
As this year’s fund was said to be insufficient for the purpose, he promised to provide more allocations next year.
