After fracas, Andy Lau decides to only sell concert tickets online

-

HONG KONG: After a fan from mainland China was attacked while queuing up for tickets to his concert, a shaken singeractor Andy Lau has decided that in future, tickets shall only be sold online.

During an event to mark the end of filming of The White Storm 2, Andy said he had made the decision for the safety of his fans.

Explained Andy: “From the perspective of public safety, we are thinking of how to prevent more physical harm from queuing up and waiting in line.”

But Andy said he does not expect online purchases to be totally without problems.

Said Andy: “I do think that everybody needs to think about the solution as well, because similar issues will surface. I hope that all the artistes can come together and find the solution.”

Andy does not plan to add more shows to his scheduled 20gig tour.

Explained Andy: “My body has just recovered, so I am afraid that I will not be able to cope,” referring to injuries suffered during a January 2017 horseriding accident.

Meanwhile, police are looking for two suspected gangsters who attacked a mainlander whom they asked to give up his spot in a queue to buy concert tickets in Chai Wan.

The attack happened at 4am last Sunday, when the victim, 58, surnamed Zheng, was sleeping in his tent close to a ticket sales outlet near Youth Square on Chai Wan Road, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported.

Zheng had set up his tent in mid-August to await the start of the sale of tickets for Andy’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

The sale started yesterday.
