Inaugural Sibec to promote business, investment in S’wak
KUCHING: The inaugural Sarawak International Business Exhibition and Conference (Sibec) 2018 will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) here on Oct 12 and 13.
Organised by Sarawak Business Federation ( SBF) and supported by the Sarawak government, the event helps to promote business and investment, support Sarawak government’s initiative in the digital economy, and to promote digital technology in Sarawak.
SBF president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg told a press conference at Sarawak Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce ( DUBS) premises here yesterday that about 600 local and overseas delegates and 19 speakers from China, the Philippines, Australia, France, Singapore and Taiwan were expected at the conference.
Also, about 60 exhibition booths, which have all been taken up, would be set up during the twoday event.

Abang Abdul Karim added that a panel of high-level speakers had been specially selected to support delegates in their move towards Industry 4.0, making Sibec 2018 a vital fixture on the calendar of business people, entrepreneurs, service providers, government agencies and consultants.
“Sibec 2018 is certain to provide Sarawak’s business leaders and entrepreneurs with the tools to capitalise on digital economy, which is already worth US$ 3 trillion, and expanding,” he added.
The event would also help to promote the local tourism industry; having organised preand post- conference tours for the delegates.
Abang Abdul Karim said that SBF would hold the event on a biannual basis.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the opening of the event on Oct 12.
