KUCHING: Consumers and investors are encouraged to visit the second Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Kuching Branch Home and Property Roadshow 2018 before an anticipated increase in housing prices next year.

The roadshow will be held at AEON Kuching Central Mall from November 7 to 11, 2018.

Organising chairman Peter Pau Kiu Sung remarked that the property market in Kuching is expriencing a slowdown probably because of the lack of information available out there or interested home buyers are having difficulties getting loans.

This was one of the reasons why Sheda has bankers present at its roadshows, to provide more information loan applications.

“This time, we will invite some suppliers of materials because we would like to introduce more materials to all our consumers,” he said.

“In total, we have 38 booths available for reservation to developers, bankers and other industry players to market their products and services at this roadshow.”

On whether prices of house will increase next year in Kuching, Pau replied that they “expect (prices of houses) will increase”.

On how much prices will increase next year, Pau said this depends on the new Sales and Service Tax (SST) tax system which has not yet provided clarification on the point.

To note, the Sheda Kuching Branch’s second roadshow for 2018 will be one of its kind and a one-stop venue for consumers and investors who are seeking to find the best property deals plus related products as well as services.

Bankers will also be present at the roadshow, to provide more information on loan services to interested home buyers.

Meanwhile, Kuching Branch secretary Peter Lau Hui Han noted that it is currently a ‘wait and see’ moment when it comes to housing prices.

“I know our Minister Of Finance now says that building materials and others are exempt from SST, but that’s only applicable to new buildings from this month onwards.

“I think some organisations in Peninsular Malaysia and also some architects, they also said that after looking at what is exempted, not necessarily (prices) will come down by a lot also. I think we have to wait and see,” Lau said.

Pau also urges exhibitors to register their participation now as there are still booths available at strategic locations. To date, 14 booths have been booked at the roadshow.

The second Sheda Home and Property Roadshow 2018 will feature ‘Buy and Win’ lucky draw prizes and also other activities for various age groups which will draw in larger crowds to this final property event of the year.
