Move out of your comfort zone, Fatimah urges PBB members

MIRI: Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah advises Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) members to not be complacent but work hard in supporting the Sarawak government to further develop and uphold the State’s rights.

She said with the Sarawak government’s decision to leave Barisan Nasional ( BN) and forming Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS), it is time for the state to stand on its own feet and uphold the rights of all Sarawakians.

“We must move out of our comfort zone, we should not be in denial mode or be complacent because what we are facing now is a big challenge thus we need to redouble our efforts and strategy in gaining more membership for the party and GPS is the best platform for all Sarawakians to defend our own rights,” she said at the Oil Mining Ordinance (OMO) 1958 and Malaysia Agreement 1963 ( MA63) briefing organised by PBB Bekenu branch at Bekenu community hall here yesterday.

“We must look at our strengths and be thankful with the previous government’s effort in developing each areas but it is time to stand on our own feet and work hard towards achieving success for our beloved state.

“Why the state government is working so hard to regain our rights especially on the OMO 1958 and MA63 is because as we know, 30 per cent of the country’s oil revenue comes from Sarawak and yet how much we got back is not enough and this is important for us to further develop our own state especially the basic infrastructures as we are far behind states in Peninsular Malaysia,” Fatimah said.

Fatimah urged party members to resolve pertinent issues with their respective elected representative (YB) and not to wait until the election time comes.

“Find issues, solve them and do not only wait for the campaign time. Any issues must be resolved together with the government before the next election and we can see the YBs going on the ground to help the people because they want to do their work and develop their areas,” she added.

Earlier, Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus who is also Bekenu assemblywoman in her opening remarks stressed on the importance of knowing the correct facts on OMO 1958 and MA63 and advises the people to stand behind the Sarawak government in fighting for the state’s rights.

Assistant Minister of Law, StateFederal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali gave the briefing on OMO 1958 and MA63 to more than 200 people who attended the programme yesterday.
