PUNB publishes book on success of S’wak Bumiputera entrepreneurs as an inspiration
KUCHING: Perbadanan Ushawan Nasional Berhad ( PUNB) has taken the initiative to publish a pilot project book titled ‘ 50 Successful Sarawak PUNB Entrepreneurs’ ( Kisah Kejayaan Usahawan PUNB Sarawak) in an effort to produce many more Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
Minister of Entrepreneur Development Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof launched the book yesterday in conjunction with the ‘ Konvensyen Memperkasakan Ushawan Bumiputera’, which is an initiative of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development, at the auditorium of Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Simpang Tiga here.
PUNB chief executive officer Datuk Azhar Ahmad said the production of the book that tells 50 success stories of Bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sarawak is among initiatives to introduce and acknowledge the success of PUNB entrepreneurs in Sarawak.
He hoped these success stories would be an encouragement for other entrepreneurs to be competitive, and said the book could also be used as reference by those who are still finding their way around to start their business.
“We (in PUNB) hope that these success stories of the entrepreneurs can be an inspiration to others and whatever challenges that they faced can guide and encourage them to be successful entrepreneurs,” he said.
On a related subject, he said since its establishment until Aug 24 this year, PUNB has given out financing of about RM3.16 billion to 84 companies in Sarawak.
Apart from that, he said PUNB contributed RM100,000 in business tithe to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak ( TBS) on August 29, which is part of the RM1.877 million business ‘zakat’ for the whole of 2017.
Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and SME Development Datuk Naroden Majais and chief secretary to the ministry Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, acting permanent secretary to the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Samat Junai and deputy federal secretary Norizan Jili were also present at the function.
