Lions donate hip orthosis to Agape Centre

-

SIBU: The Lions Clubs International ( LCI) District 308A2 yesterday donated two sets of hip orthosis for children with special needs at the Agape Centre here.

Lions Club of Sibu Central president Edmond Wong and the event organising chairman Francis Sia handed over the orthosis to Clinical Research Centre of Sibu Hospital head Prof Dr Toh Teck Hock and Association for Children With Special Needs president Kapitan Datuk Janet Lau.

According to Dr Toh, there are some 200 children under the care of the Association of Children With Special Needs.

He said an orthosis is needed by those children who cannot sit, walk or stand to assist them in their activities.

Meanwhile, Lau urged Lions Club members here to visit children with special needs more often in order to understand the needs of these children.

She said once they have a bigger picture of these children’s needs, they will know how best they can help the children.

She pointed out that the feeling of being loved is what the children need most.

“Come to the Agape Centre where these children of special needs are being taken care of,” Lau said yesterday when receiving two sets of orthosis donated by the Lions Clubs International ( LCI) District 308A2 to the association.
