MARUDI: A headman in rural Baram has praised Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau for bringing continuous development to his longhouse.

Juk Emang, of Long Tebangan in the Akah tributary of Upper Baram, said despite being located deep in the interior, Dennis has frequently visited the longhouse and approved many development projects.

“The most recent project was the construction of a cement road for the village at a cost of RM130,000 from his ( Dennis) minor rural project allocation.

“We appreciate such hardworking leaders who understand what we need even if we have not made any request,” he said during a recent visit by Dennis to the longhouse.

Juk added that his charges are fully behind their assemblyman and the Sarawak government under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said he had forwarded several other requests for development to Dennis for consideration, among them funds to extend the site of the new longhouse, construction of a basketball court, extension of the village road, as well as the setting-up of a solar hybrid system as they are still dependent on generators.

During the visit, Dennis also announced a contribution of RM50,000 for the Hudson Southwell Memorial House at Long Tebangan.

Among those present during the visit was Cr Dominic Nyurang Ajang of Miri City Council.
