Choose training institutes recognised by govt – Fatimah
KUCHING: Youths interested to take vocational courses are urged to choose training institutes that are recognised by the government to ensure that they can find employment without facing unnecessary problems after they graduate.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah gave this advice when speaking at the 4th graduation ceremony of Rafflesia Academy 2018 at Dewan Hikmah here yesterday.
Taking Rafflesia Academy as an example, she said it is a skills institute that offers beauty and spa therapy training which is recognised by the government, including financial institutions here.
She added that it is not easy for an institute to obtain recognition and for its students’ training funded by the government.
“Rafflesia Academy has proven that their graduates are qualified in terms of skills needed by employees in the industry. The courses and studies offered by Rafflesia Academy like the Diploma in Spa Therapy is recognised by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) which is an international recognition body from the United Kingdom.
“Therefore, congratulations and well done to this skills institute on its effort to enable youths to take up courses that benefit them in the future,” she said.
Fatimah also advised the graduates to grab the job opportunities available and stay committed to gain more experience in their respective professions.
“If you perform well, your career path is wide open,” she said.
A total of 30 students received their scrolls at the graduation ceremony.
Also present were Rafflesia Academy director Shirley Hasmani and advisors Datuk Eddie Abdullah and Dr Marteen Van Der Host.
