Girls’ Brigade donates RM2,800 to Wishesland

-

KUCHING: The Girls’ Brigade Kuching Group Council donated RM2,800 to Wishesland recently.

A press release said the donation is to help the non-governmental organisation for cerebral palsy with its fundraising activities.

Wishesland will hold its first charity sale in November at the Kuching South City Council’s Dewan Masyarakat.

“The main objective of organising this charity sale is to raise funds to cover its daily operations and development expenses. This is because as of July this year, the total bank balance of the centre is approximately RM50,000, which will only last for the next five months if no donations are received,” said the press release.

“So far a total of 60 stall operators have confirmed their participation. We are targeting to have 200 stalls so that there is enough food and items for coupon purchasers to buy.”

Wishesland now assists 41 children and the centre’s average monthly expenses stand at RM10,000 for three fulltime staff, one-part time staff member’s allowance, electricity and water bills, as well as other general centre maintenance.

The centre provides an avenue for counselling services, rehabilitation, and consolidation treatment for children and adults with cerebral palsy.
