-

LIMBANG: Police believe they have solved a case involving stolen goods and the break-in of a shop in March with the arrest of a local man last Thursday.

Limbang District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the 31-year-old was arrested around 10.30pm at an unnumbered house in Kampung Bunga Raya.

“Acting on information, a team of CID (Criminal Investigation Department) from the Limbang IPD (district police headquarters) arrested the suspect.

“Police also seized a mobile phone as well as a SIM card,” he said in a statement yesterday.

It is learned that police were led to the suspect following the Aug 6 arrests of two other male suspects, aged 32 and 23, who had claimed they bought stolen goods from him.

“The case is still under investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code,” Mohd Bukhori said.

He added that based on a preliminary investigation involving the first two suspects, the CID and Marine Police team had at 3.12pm on Thursday raided an unnumbered house in Kampung Limpaku Pinang to locate items believed to have been stolen.

“Among the seized items were two chainsaws, five barrels of engine oil, a television, two laptops, four engine fan propulsion units, wood cutting unit, air compressor unit, three blenders, waterjet, and jigsaw woodcutter.

“Also seized were two handsaws, a drill, a disc sander, a welding set, a large segment containing disassembled engine components, three outboard engines, two fiberglass boats, and a water pump,” he said.
