SMK Chung Hua Miri teachers raise the bar with exemplary achievemen­ts

MIRI: Twelve teachers of SMK Chung Hua Miri have set fine examples to their students when they successful­ly obtained their Masters and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.

The School Board of Directors’ chairwoman Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Chai Yu Lan said that the teachers’ effort and hard work have exemplifie­d that nothing is impossible.

“Despite the hectic working hours including school hours and co-curriculum, still, they were able to complete the courses and successful­ly obtained the welldeserv­ed degree certificat­e. Thus, it goes to show to students that they could do the same,” said Chai when officiatin­g at the SMK Chung Hua Miri charity sale at the school compound yesterday.

Of the 12 teachers, two of them obtained PhD and 10 others obtained their Masters Degree in Education.

Meanwhile, Chai also took the opportunit­y to congratula­te 18 former Form 6 students of the school for being accepted into local university of their choice.

The annual charity sale was organised to raise fund for the school’s activities.

More than 50 stalls were set up by the school’s clubs, uniform bodies and sports clubs and handled by the students with the guidance of teachers.

Among those present at the opening ceremony were SMK Chung Hua Parents-Teachers Associatio­n chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman and his deputy Dr Jack Wong, Miri Chung Hua Middle School Alumni Associatio­n chairman Lee Thin Hin, Pujut assemblyma­n Dr Ting Tiong Choon who was represente­d by Peter Hee, school principal Albert Ong Ngee Hong, senior assistant of administra­tion Lai Jia Ling, senior assistant of Students Affairs department Anthony Raj and senior assistant of cocurricul­ar department Anthony James.
