30 take part in audition for BTA 2018
KUCHING: More than 30 individuals took part in the audition for Borneo Talent Awards ( BTA) 2018 held at Boulevard Shopping Mall here yesterday.
The contest was organised by Sibu Municipal Council ( SMC) and it was open to local and foreign participants of any age.
“The contest is aimed to discover the special talents that we have in Sarawak,” SMC representative Tony Wong told reporters.
Wong said that this is the eighth year running that the contest has been held in Sarawak.
Performances can be in any format and each performance is only between two and six minutes long.
The judges for the audition were Isa Lee, Thong Wai Kook and Wong Yik Tze. Contestants are judged based on their creativity, artistic skills, presentation, choreography and uniqueness.
Qualified participants will be announced at the end of every audition.
Upcoming auditions will be held at Boulevard Shopping Mall at Miri on Sep 15, Farley Supermarket in Bintulu (Sept 16), Suria Shopping Mall in Kota Kinabalu Sabah (Sept 23) and Farley Supermarket in Sibu (Sept 29).
The semi-final and the grand finale will be held at Sibu Town Square in Sibu on Nov 23 and 24 respectively.
Outstation participants will be fully responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
Finalists will be vying for the Talent Star of the Year Award, The Most Poplar Talent Award, The Most Entertaining Talent Award, The Most Creative Talent Award and seven Special Talent awards at the grand finale.
Winner of the Talent Star of the Year Award will receive a trophy and RM5,000 while winners of The Most Popular Talent Award, The Most Entertaining Talent Award and The Most Creative Award will receive a trophy and RM1,000 each. Seven winners of the Special Talent Award will receive a trophy and RM500 each.

The organiser reserves the right to accept or reject any walk-in participants during the auditions.
