Remand on Cradle Fund CEO’s wife extended

PETALING JAYA: Police have obtained an order to extend for three days the remand order on the wife of a murder victim, Cradle Fund chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan, to facilitate investigation into her husband’s death in a fire last June 14.

The order was issued by Magistrate Nurulhuda Zakariya, allowing the woman to be in remand until Thursday.

The woman was arrested last Sept 4, together with her exhusband, and was in remand for a week. Her former husband had since been released.

Meanwhile, the woman’s lawyer, Hisyam Teh Poh Teik said he would submit an objection to the Shah Alam High Court today on a seven- day remand order issued last Saturday against the deceased’s two step-sons, aged 16 and 14.

Nazrin, who died in a fire at his home on June 14, was found with 30 per cent burn marks on the upper floor of his double-storey house.

Early last month, police reclassified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code following a forensic investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department.

Cradle Fund is a company under the Finance Ministry. It was set up to develop technology entrepreneurs and ecosystem start-up companies in Malaysia.

It is the agency which provided initial funding for successful companies such as Grab (MyTeksi) and iMoney. —
