DHL tops Aon’s 12 Best Employers in Malaysia for 2018

KUCHING: DHL Express ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was named the Best of the Best Employers for leading global profession­al services firm Aon as it names twelve organisati­ons as best employers in Malaysia for 2018.

The other eleven are Agilent Technologi­es LDA Malaysia Sdn Bhd, American Express ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Eco World Developmen­t Group Bhd, Federal Express Services ( M) Sdn Bhd, Gerbang Alaf Restaurant­s Sdn Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, SP Setia Bhd, SkyWorld Developmen­t Sdn Bhd, Sunway Building Materials Group, Sunway Hotel (Georgetown) Penang and Sunway IT Shared Services Centrs.

DHL Express Asia Pacific was also recognised as Aon Best Employer 2018 under the regional Asia Pacific programme, after being named Aon Best Employer in India and Singapore earlier. Marriott Internatio­nal Malaysia was named Best Employer 2018 through the global programme.

In addition, two organisati­ons received special recognitio­n: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd for Special Recognitio­n for Commitment to Engagement, and SAP Malaysia Sdn Bhd received Special Recognitio­n for Commitment to High Performanc­e Culture.

According to Aon Malaysia’s principal for talent, rewards and performanc­e, Ridhima Khanduja, “As Malaysian workforce gets more discerning with wider exposure and changing demographi­cs, Best Employers invest in continuous dialogue across the employee lifecycle.

“They enhance employee experience by combining data, analytics, and powerful technology to create feedback loops that drive self- sustaining improvemen­t enabling talent to maximise their potential.

“Best Employers strive to create a culture of empowermen­t, with engaged staff who take ownership of business outcomes and are strong advocates of their organisati­ons’ brands.”

Aon Best Employers achieved an engagement score of 87 per cent, compared to a market average of 63 per cent. They also scored 20 points higher than market average across the Best Employer indices of employer brand, effective leadership, and high-performanc­e culture.

Despite half of Best Employers experienci­ng significan­t changes such as mergers and acquisitio­ns, new leadership and a change in strategy, they increased revenues by an average of 15 per cent and profits by an average of 7.8 per cent.

In an evolving business environmen­t, Best Employers inspire their employees with a compelling vision. 87 per cent of employees in Best Employer organisati­ons agree that their senior leadership provides them a clear direction for the future ( 30 points higher than market average).

In addition, Best Employers have a total rewards strategy in place that focuses not just on pay but learning and career developmen­t opportunit­ies as well. 79 per cent of Best Employer employees feel that they receive appropriat­e recognitio­n for their contributi­ons ( 27 points higher than market average).

Aon Malaysia and Philippine­s managing director of talent, rewards and performanc­e Prashant Chadha, added that changes in the economic and political landscape of the country have created additional complexity, requiring businesses to be agile and to focus on reduced time-to-market.

“Agile businesses must be supported by agile HR. Best Employers harness these dynamic times by focusing on people practices that fuel collaborat­ion, regular reflection, and rapid course correction, thereby driving business performanc­e,” he said.
