Lubok Antu MP declares support for Rafizi in coming party polls

-

KUCHING: Lubok Antu MP Jugah Muyang has declared that he will be rallying behind Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) deputy presidential candidate Rafizi Ramli who is set to take on Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali at the party’s triennial general assembly.

Rafizi is said to be a popular figure outside PKR but has yet to test his popularity in the party election.

Jugah who won Lubok Antu seat on an independent ticket before joining PKR said Rafizi embodies the spirit of reforms as his work has helped to propel Pakatan Harapan to win the recent 14th general election and thereafter formed the federal government .

“Most people only know that Rafizi’s Invoke had correctly predicted the outcome of the election, but Rafizi did more than that. Invoke also assisted many candidates during the run- up to May 9 polls and out of 44 candidates who received assistance from Invoke, 42 won the seats they contested in which translates to a stunning 95 per cent success rate.

“Rafizi has also proven his mettle in terms of leadership when he led over 40,000 volunteers, with nearly 26,000 serving as polling agents/ counting agents ( PACA) during the historic general election.

“While I have high respect for all the candidates, Rafizi has worked hard knowing that there are no rewards waiting for him at the end of that journey, as he was barred from contesting in the election. As selfless as he is, I believe Rafizi is the one who should be by the side of Anwar Ibrahim to helm the party as catalyst to push forward the agenda of reforms of the party. I urge PKR members to consider these facts,” Jugah added.

Jugah himself will be contesting the PKR Lubok Antu branch chairmanship during the branch election on Oct 20.

He had recently pledged his loyalty to Anwar, the PKR president- elect.

PKR national election draws public interest as the party is the biggest in term of the most number of MPs in the Pakatan Harapan ruling coalition.
