MIRI: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Telang Usan and Mulu together with their women and youth wings must organise more community oriented programmes and activities as a service to the people.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said they must understand that PBB does not practise seasonal politics and they should also carry out the party’s struggle and commitment to bring development and services to the community.

Dennis made these remarks at the PBB Telang Usan Family Day held at L A Cottage near Kampung Beraya, Bekenu yesterday.

Present were Mulu assemblyman Datu Gerawat Gala who is State Legislative Assembly deputy speaker, PBB Mulu youth chief Usat Bilong, PBB Telang Usan deputy chairman Charles Balan, PBB Telang Usan youth chief councillor Domanic Nyurang, PBB Telang Usan women chief Margrate Nawan, PBB Mulu deputy chairman Datuk Robert Laing and Temenggong Elizabeth Deng.

Attended by almost 500 PBB members from Telang Usan, the aim of the Family Day was to foster closer rapport among party members apart from exchanging ideas to strengthen the party.

He said PBB, the backbone of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), has the experience and strategy in bringing development to the state, including Telang Usan and Mulu, and does not practise politics of hatred but backs arguments with facts and findings.

He pointed to the Long Lama bridge, which was undergoing construction, as an example of PBB’s commitment to provide convenience to the rural people, which in turn would be the catalyst in bringing more development to the rural areas.

At the same time, he called on PBB members to be alert and counter issues raised by the opposition and never be lured to join them.

“The opposition talk big but they are the ones that halted development in Telang Usan and stopped projects that benefit the people here,” he reminded.

He also told the PBB members not to tarnish the good name of their leaders and avoid any loggerheads with other component parties of GPS.

Commenting on development, he appealed to the community leaders to oversee the projects in their respective villages to ensure that they follow the specifications.

“I hope with an avenue like this, all party members are informed that PBB is relevant and strong enough to face the next state election,” he said of the gathering.

During the same occasion, all PBB Telang Usan exco committee members, women and youth wings committee members were given group insurance policy which was handed over by Dennis.
