MP concerned about soil erosions in Sibuti area
MIRI: Reports of numerous soil erosions that have hit several places in Sibuti constituency have caused its MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni to be seriously concerned.
Besides Rumah Mandau in Niah, Lukanisman said he has also received reports on soil erosion at Kampung Bakam, a house at Rancangan Sepupok and Rumah Sebastian Madang.
“As now is monsoon season, the affected people expressed their safety concern due to current wet weather which will worsen the existing soil erosion problem and cause more landslides in their areas.
“I will go to the ground to get a clear picture on the latest condition of soil erosion that has hit several places in my constituency,” he stated when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.

He was asked on the plight of residents of Rumah Mandau, who wanted the authorities to take immediate action on the worsening soil erosion at the backyard of their longhouse.
After getting complete detail on the situation, he said he would refer the matter to the relevant agencies in order to find the best solution as well as to get immediate action to solve the problem.
At the same time, he said his service centre in Bekenu is always open to those who need assistance or even advice on any community development issue.
“Social media is the alternative medium frequently used by members of the public to get the latest information on current issues, particularly on community issues.
“Thus, those people who are unable to come to my service centre can also approach me by forwarding their issues or problems via my Facebook account.”
