Saratok rep assures school facilities will be improved

KUCHING: The Ministry of Education will expedite the improvemen­t on school facilities in line with the planning and approach of the new Pakatan Harapan administra­tion.

In giving this assurance, Saratok MP Ali Biju said organising welfare programme and fund contributi­on are the alternativ­es to collect donations to accommodat­e the needs of the schools.

“With the sincere contributi­ons from all parties, the needs and activities of the schools will be fulfilled more effectivel­y.

“Besides fostering closer relationsh­ip between the school and the local community, it is also able to significan­tly close the gap between the rural school and urban schools,” he said when officiatin­g at the SMK Saratok Parent-Teacher Associatio­n ( PTA) dinner at SJK Min Syn Saratok multipurpo­se hall here on Sunday.

The programme was jointly organised by the school’s PTA and SMK Saratok Alumni Associatio­n. More than 1,000 guests attended.

The Krian assemblyma­n who is also a SMK Saratok alumnus was grateful and touched with the support that the members had given to the programme.

“Although most of the school’s alumni members are from all over Sarawak they had given their support to the fundraisin­g event with love for their alma mater.

“I hope that this programme will continue in the future and be able to raise more funds to meet the needs of the school.”

He announced a personal donation of RM20,000 to the PTA.

Among those present were community leaders pemanca Tan Tok Ngee, SMK Saratok principal Philip Singkek, PTA president Nair Mathew Kudang, vice president Chendang Pana and SMK Saratok Alumni Associatio­n secretary Jasmi Sadan Sagi.
