‘PBB must pave way for state’s future’
MIRI: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB), as the backbone of Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS), must pave the way for Sarawak’s future, said PBB vicepresident Datuk Gerawat Gala.
The State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker said the future of politics in Sarawak requires PBB and GPS to safeguard the people’s interests.
“PBB has proven over the years that it is strong and united, thus delivers and champions the people’s interests,” he told The Borneo Post on Monday.
The Mulu assemblyman pointed out that during the last parliamentary election, PBB won 13 seats and as such the Pakatan Harapan ( PH) federal government is aware of its strength.
“PBB and GPS members should not worry about the political changes, as our Sarawak Chief Minister’s ( Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) vision is focused and set to bring in more development for the people,” he said.
Gerawat called on PBB members to be aware of the opposition’s political gimmicks and ploys such as the purported 20 per cent oil royalty for Sarawak, which was promised in the PH manifesto.
“My picture of the new PH federal government is, it is still cloudy and the government is not yet stable,” he said.
“What I see is long on promises but short on delivery by the PH federal government.”
He added that once approved by the Registrar of Societies, GPS would conduct roadshows for all PBB branches.
“In Zone 14, comprising Telang Usan, Mulu, and Marudi, we will meet and hear from our Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and GPS leaders on the party’s interests and struggle for Sarawak.
“In Baram, we will focus on the Highland Development Agency and Native Territorial Domain,” he said.
