Don’t be ignorant, PBS tells Nazri

-

KOTA KINABALU: Par t i Bersatu Sabah ( PBS) information chief Datuk Jahid Jahim chided Datuk Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz for the annoying remark he made on the ‘equal partners’ status that Sabah and Sarawak have long sought the Federal Government to restore to like what was stated in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 ( MA63).

“Nazri seems to be totally ignorant of the contents of the MA63 and what they meant for Sabahans and Sarawakians,” Jahid said, adding if a former senior federal cabinet member like him does not even know the contents of the MA63 then how can the others be expected to understand the significance of MA63 and its contents.

“There is an urgent and serious need for the Education Ministry to expand the learning syllabus in schools to include the topic on MA63 from A-Z and the formation of Malaysia,” he said.

Mohd Nazri was reported saying he personally support giving equal status to Sabah and Sarawak but incidently it (equal status) means that Peninsular Malaysians do not have to show their passports when entering Sabah and Sarawak.

“When there is no more restriction, then only are we equal,” said Mohd Nazri.

Jahid said it is such a remark made by Mohd Nazri that hurts the feeling of the people in Sabah and Sarawak and makes them not happy with Malaya.

“The passport issue was among the immigration powers or safeguards that had been agreed upon during the negotiation for the formation of Malaysia. Any remarks from anybody to dispute this is uncalled for and must be totally condemned ,” said Jahid, who is also Tamparuli assemblyman.
