RM9.6 mil for various recipients from CM

KAPIT: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing on behalf of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg handed out government grants totalling RM9.6 million to various recipients here on Monday.

The cheque presentati­on was held in conjunctio­n with the dinner hosted by the Kapit Chinese Community Leaders Associatio­n at a local restaurant.

The recipients were SJK( C) Ming Tat School ( RM4 million) for relocating from Sarikei to Kapit, new Kapit Methodist Iban Church ( RM3 million), SDNU Kapit for its new cemetery ( RM1 million), Kapit Foochow Associatio­n ( RM500,000), Kapit Kwang Tung Associatio­n ( RM500,000), SJK( C) Hock Lam ( RM500,000) and SJK( C) Hin Hua, Song ( RM100,000).

In his speech, Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi informed that the cheques were made out following the Chief Minister’s visit to Kapit recently.

Witnessing the cheques presentati­on were Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Dagang, Bukit Goram assemblyma­n Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Pelagus assemblyma­n Wilson Nyabong Ijang, political secretarie­s to the chief minister Maurice Giri, Tapah Ata and Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong, Deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang, Walikota Philimon Nuing, Kapit district officer Elvis Didit, Bukit Mabong district officer Douglas Pungga, Song district officer Jacklyn August, heads of other government department­s and community leaders.
