Over 2,500 to receive scrolls at OUM’s 22nd convocation

KUALA LUMPUR: Open University Malaysia (OUM) will hold its 22nd Convocation this weekend (Sept 22-23).

A press release said over 2,500 graduating learners will receive their scrolls at Merdeka Hall, Putra World Trade Centre from OUM pro chancellor Tan Sri Azman Hashim.

The event will also see the graduation of 54 students from the International Open College – OUM’s sister institution.

The highlight of the convocation will be the conferment of the honorary Doctor of Arts ( Films) to cinematic icon Datuk Yusof Haslam for his outstanding contributions to the moviemaking industry.

Also graduating are 294 international graduates from six countries and three graduates from Sekolah Integriti Penjara Kajang, who will receive bachelor’s degrees and a diploma.

At the Institute of Professional Development (IPD) Awards Ceremony on Sunday, local television and cinematic icon Datuk Ahmad Tamimi Siregar Kamaruddin will receive the Meritorious Award for his contributions towards the development of human capital of the creative industry through lifelong learning.
