Over 2,500 to receive scrolls at OUM’s 22nd convocatio­n

KUALA LUMPUR: Open University Malaysia (OUM) will hold its 22nd Convocatio­n this weekend (Sept 22-23).

A press release said over 2,500 graduating learners will receive their scrolls at Merdeka Hall, Putra World Trade Centre from OUM pro chancellor Tan Sri Azman Hashim.

The event will also see the graduation of 54 students from the Internatio­nal Open College – OUM’s sister institutio­n.

The highlight of the convocatio­n will be the conferment of the honorary Doctor of Arts ( Films) to cinematic icon Datuk Yusof Haslam for his outstandin­g contributi­ons to the moviemakin­g industry.

Also graduating are 294 internatio­nal graduates from six countries and three graduates from Sekolah Integriti Penjara Kajang, who will receive bachelor’s degrees and a diploma.

At the Institute of Profession­al Developmen­t (IPD) Awards Ceremony on Sunday, local television and cinematic icon Datuk Ahmad Tamimi Siregar Kamaruddin will receive the Meritoriou­s Award for his contributi­ons towards the developmen­t of human capital of the creative industry through lifelong learning.
