Pustaka encourages students to attend research report presentati­on

MIRI: The public, especially students are encouraged to attend the presentati­on of research reports from Local Cultural Heritage competitio­n among secondary schools in northern Sarawak on Sept 26 - 27

The competitio­n organised by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri and Sarawak Education Office was held in February this year.

“We encourage the public, particular­ly students and teachers to attend any session or the whole two-day presentati­on by 39 groups from 17 secondary schools in northern Sarawak.

“Presentati­ons on both days will be held from 8am to 5pm at the library’s auditorium. Admission is free,” said a spokespers­on.

The competing schools are Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang, SMK Lutong, SMK Pujut, SM Science, SMK Lopeng Tengah, SMK Taman Tunku, SMK Riam, SMK Subis, SMK Bakong, SMK Marudi, SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai Jau, SMK Tinjar, SMK Long Lama, SMK Medamit, SMK Merapok and SMK Kidurung.

MP Sibuti Lukanisman Awang Sauni has been invited to officially close the competitio­n and present prizes to winners on Sept 28.

The objectives of the competitio­n include providing exposure in research-based writing including how to search for informatio­n through authentic sources besides planning, collecting, analysing, interpreti­ng, synthesizi­ng, formulatin­g and recording the informatio­n obtained to form a complete and comprehens­ive study result on preserving customs and culture in Sarawak through writing.
