DPM to officiate at 2018 Sukma closing ceremony

IPOH: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is expected to grace the 19th Sukma closing ceremony at Perak Stadium tomorrow.

Perak Youth and Spor t s Developmen­t C ommi t t e e chairman Howard Lee Chuan How said various attractive events are lined up for the ceremony, among them a cultural presentati­on by the 20th Sukma host Johor as well as a Perak cultural performanc­e.

“We are also featuring the special appearance of two popular local artistes,” he told reporters yesterday.

He said Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu are also expected to attend.

Howard said in appreciati­on for the media practition­ers in covering the Games, the state government would be presenting the Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n of Malaysia awards in three categories namely the best picture, best report ( print media) and best report (electronic media).

Howard said about 25,000 people are expected to flood the stadium for the closing ceremony.

He said the public are advised to come early as there would be performanc­es by several local artistes starting from 5pm.

“We will provide lucky draws for the spectators apart from cultural presentati­ons and performanc­es by artistes after 11pm,” he said. — Bernama
