Leaders in PH govt must uphold discipline — Anwar
KOTA KINABALU: PKR president- elect, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said leaders in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government must be disciplined and should not easily forget because of the power they have.
All leaders in the PH must carry out changes by eliminating the corrupt attitude and the abuse of power.
“We must bring changes...don’t be proud, don’t think that we have the power and can threaten people and buy votes. If we have such people wanting to contest in PKR, we will kick them out,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the 2018 Malaysia Day Celebration, here yesterday which was also attended by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, Christina Liew who is also Sabah PKR Chairman.
Anwar said the people’s awareness was the key to bring about changes in the country.
“We ( PH) won because of the support of the people. Thus as leaders, we should never forget the sufferings faced by the people in their struggle and don’t be cruel to the Malaysian people,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the top leadership who were chosen whether at the state or federal level must be given strong support to bring development to the nation.
“We want the government to be strong. Why do we want a strong government? Because our country has many problems...and to resolve the problems, we must give solid support to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to clean whatever is unclean that occurred previously.
“We need to have consensus to ensure that our government remained stable. ( Dr) Mahathir and I have discussed and we agreed to unite and develop this country. We want to save the nation,” he added. — Bernama
