Taman Duranda Mas to have multi-purpose hall, says Dr Jerip

-

SERIAN: A multi-purpose hall will be built at Taman Duranda Mas in Siburan under the Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP).

Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said a sum of RM350,000 has been allocated for phase I of the project to be completed next year.

Dr Jerip said the project would help to promote greater unity among the people in the housing estate.

“Being a multi-racial housing estate, the multi-purpose hall is a very much needed facility for the people in the area because each time they are having celebrations like Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Gawai Dayak, they have no place to celebrate together.

“So with the multi-purpose hall, it will become a significant part of community life for the people in the housing estate,” Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman told The Borneo Post yesterday during a site visit.

He was glad to note that the residents of the housing estate were pro- active, having set up a committee comprising the various ethnic groups- Chinese, Malay, Bidayuh and Iban- which augurs well for racial unity.

“With the setting up of such committee, it will enhance inter-racial unity and harmony among the people which we must maintain at all times,” he stressed.

He disclosed that a church would be built at the housing estate, for which a site has been allotted adding that a building committee would soon be formed.

Later, Dr Jerip visited a community hall at Kpg Misa’an for which he had allocated RM150,000 for upgrading works.

Accompanying Dr Jerip were Sarawak administrative officer from Siburan sub- district office Ranum Bari and officers from the Public Works Departrment.
