JCI Mandarin Repok to hold joint environmental campaign on Oct 7

-

SARIKEI: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Mandarin Repok Sarikei will hold a joint environmental campaign with TYC Goat & Livestock Sdn Bhd and Borneo Evangelical Mission (SIB) Charis Church on Oct 7.

The educational awareness campaign will be held in two sessions at SIB Charis Church here, JCI Mandarin Repok president Stella Law said.

According to Stella, the first session from 12pmm to 2pm is entitled ‘Ocean series environmentally’ with candle making at RM25 person inclusive of refreshment and material.

The second session to be held from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm will be a lecture on soap making using recycled oil at only RM5 per person.

The campaign is a follow-up to a cleaning campaign undertaken in conjunction with World Cleanup Day on Sept 15, she explained.

“We found that the main reason for littering is lack of environmental awareness. As long as each of us throws a piece of paper, empty bottles, the world will be covered by the garbage. Not only will we be the victims of our own wrongdoings but innocent animals suffer as well,” she said.

“Only when everyone in the global village is aware and voluntarily protect our own environment would it be possible for us to have a clean earth again,” she added

The campaign aims to ensure clean and healthy environment for our future generations, she said

“Environmental awareness needs to start from childhood. We encourage parents and children to participate in this parent- children bonding event. Parents should take advantage of every opportunity around them to cultivate environmental awareness and help children cherish our earth,” Stella concluded.
