World Pharmacists Day activities on Sept 30 at Plaza Merdeka

KUCHING: Sarawak Pharmaceutical Society ( SPS) in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Services Division of Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS) and Plaza Merdeka will mark World Pharmacists Day on Sept 30 at Plaza Merdeka from 10am to 10pm.

The event will feature free medication counselling, health exhibition booths, blood glucose screening, blood donation and other fun-filled activities for the family.

This year’s theme “Pharmacists are Your Medicine Experts” gives recognition to pharmacists as the source of knowledge and advice on medicine not only for the general public but also other health professionals.

Pharmacists play a pivotal role in ensuring every patient gets the right medicine at the right dose in the most suitable formulation.

Apart from highlighting this year’s theme, the event conducted by pharmacists from the public and private sectors will also focus on antibiotic awareness as well as addressing the current issue of rabies.

The public is encouraged to bring their home medications or clinic booklet for free medication review.

Some of the programmes lined up include Business and Pharmaceutical Profession Forum with panellists Mohamad Azree Jawawi (Wija Pharmacy), Zakiah Drahman ( Setiaraja Pharmacy) and Andrew Willy anak Goheng ( Willy Pharmacy).

President of Sarawak Pharmaceutical Society Susan Tang Siew Chin will give a talk on Dengue Awareness and Dr. Haseanti Hussein from JKNS will talk on Rabies Awareness.

Exhibition on pharmacy profession, medication counselling booth, booths set up by drug companies, antibiotics and medication safety booth, KOSPEN, Pink Ribbon, health screening, dental check-up, blood donation will be among activities in the one- day event.
